About Us

We are a Community Interest Company that specialises in coaching autistic and neurodivergent people, their families, caregivers and employers. We provide coaching, training and workshops aimed at helping neuro-minorities to thrive in their lives, society and the workplace.

Whether you are an autistic adult who is feeling anxious and stuck in a rut, an employer unsure how to support a neurodiverse team, or a parent/caregiver who is feeling overwhelmed - we can help.

We use adapted coaching techniques and concepts to help individuals explore new strategies, reframe thinking, raise awareness and overcome the self-limiting beliefs that can get in the way.

We offer: one-to-one coaching for adults and for parents and carers; workplace coaching; group coaching courses; and bespoke training, workshops and talks for companies and organisations.

How we came about

Auternative Coaching was set up by Gillian Slater and Charmain Bucho who met in 2016 on a coaching course organised and funded through the Enfield branch of the National Autistic Society.

The coaching diploma they gained brought together highly experienced coaches and trainers in the fields of coaching, mentoring and autism. Gillian and Charmain volunteered their time committing to coach autistic adults over the course of two years to gain their qualification.

Having seen for themselves the positive impact coaching can have they set up Auternative Coaching to continue to offer specialist coaching to autistic people and their families.

About our coaching

Casual Meeting

Coaching is a proven, effective way to empower people to make decisions and affect change in their lives.

At Auternative Coaching we passionately believe that with the right support everyone can grow and develop the skills they need to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

Our coaching method is based on the principles of neuro-linguistic programming and positive psychology coupled with an understanding of the strengths and challenges of being neurodivergent.

All of our coaches have first hand experience of autism, a Diploma of Applied NLP : Autism Coaching and at seven years experience of working with autistic individuals and their families.

How we work

We offer three coaching services; a group coaching course for parents/carers of autistic children, individual 121 coaching for parents/carers, and 121 coaching for autistic adults either privately or paid for by their employer or the Access to Work programme.

We also offer bespoke workshops, talks and training for employers and organisations.
